Today is the last day of the year! With so many things gone down through the year, so many activities,  so many lessons learnt. We all have a hope that the coming year would be better! I read this poem in a devotional and I thought I should share it with you all so that it can give us an attitude change for the coming year! I knelt to pray but not for long I had too much to do as the year ends I had to hurry and get to work For bills would soon be due. So I knelt and said a hurried prayer And jumped up off my knees My Christian duty was now done My soul could now rest at ease. All day long I had no time To spread a word of cheer No time to speak Christ to friends They'd laugh at me I'd fear 2016 ending!  No time,  no time,  too much to do That was my constant cry But at last the time,  the time to die I went before the Lord I came;  I stood with downcast eyes For in his hands God held a book It was the book of life. One quality of God that is outstanding is that he is always on time. He is ever present.  He controls the times and seasons. But some of us would think that we call on God but he doesn't answer immediately. Mind you,  there is an appointed time for Everything we ask God for. Mary, the sister of Lazarus said that if Jesus had been there on time,  Lazarus would not have died. There was a set an appointed time for Lazarus miracle.  This time would glorify God in heaven.  If Jesus had come like the day he died,  people would have just said, "how sure are we that he is even dead". It would have just looked like any other miracle.  But Jesus delayed it so that the people can know and believe that with God nothing is impossible.                     The eye is a very important part of the human body.  It is the organ of sight. Do you look or do you see. To look at something means to gaze your eyes upon or acknowledge it's presence. In order to see,  not only does one look at the object but he/she also understands it and pays attention to it. Do you look at people or do you see the good in people.  Do you look at life or do you see all the beautiful things life has to offer. Do you look at the situation of things or do you see the little glimpse of hope in every situation. When you look,  you only glance at something.  You don't pay attention to the details or things that could happen.  But when you see,  you see from another perspective.  You focus on that particular thing and then add meaning to it. A shield is a form of protection. It obstructs attacks Faith is also a shield.  It protects us from evil thoughts,  and also from the devil. Since faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen,  we cannot be moved by evil thoughts because we have this hope that all things will work together for our good. We believe that things are better even when we don't see it. This shields us from thoughts of depression, fear and low self esteem Faith also shields us from the wiles of the devil.  The devil knows we would not believe anything he says since we have faith and believe that God has us. We wouldn't even fall into the devil's temptations because we believe that God is able to supply every of our needs and the devil has nothing good to offer. Been in places on time does not only show you know what you are doing but you are also responsible. Punctuality matters in every aspect of life. If you show up for an interview late, you would probably not get that job. The same thing goes with going to church. Since you don't know God's time table for your life, since you don't know your day of visitation, please be punctual in his presence. God bless you

Since we are still in the spirit of christmas, let me share with us what I learnt in church yesterday. Luke 1 When God told Zechariah that he and Elizabeth would have children,  Zechariah said " how would this happen", " my wife and I are old ". He didn't believe.  He asked this question in doubt. One thing about doubt is that it doesn't stop God from doing what he wants to do. Your doubt will only cost you. When Zechariah doubted,  it cost him his voice.  Since he didn't believe,  the angel told him he wouldn't be able to speak.  Can you imagine how it must have felt for Zechariah to see his long awaited promise, form in front of his eyes,  yet he couldn't say anything about it.  Or when the baby was born,  he couldn't say how much love and joy he had in his heart. Most of us have burdens laid down like a "to do list" on our hearts. Things that we can't really share,  things that we can't really say or we can't just find the right words to describe what we have to say. Sometimes,  we are afraid of telling people so that we don't tell the wrong people who at the end, use what we say against us. But there is this one person that we often forget when we have things laid up in our heart,  when we don't know the right step to take,  when we don't know the next thing to do,  or when we just don't know.  We need someone to talk to to advise us,  to tell us that thing that would help us.  The thing is we have him by our side every time but we are so out of time that we forget he is our ever present help in times of trouble.  One of his main duties is to be our counselor.  He sees and knows all things.  He knows the past,  the present and even the future you are so unsure of.  He knows our minds and so kn

Jesus paid the price! He loves you more than you can ever imagine. As Christmas draws close Don't forget the reason for the season It's all about Jesus! Show this love to someone today!

When we feel like giving up, when things are not going as smooth as we want them to be, when you are not motivated to perform a task, Instead of giving up,  wait upon the Lord. When you wait upon the lord, there are a lot of benefits attached to it 1. Renewal of strength Your strength would be renewed.  Like a fresh fire. You would be agile and strong. His favor gives us spiritual strength. Hebrews 13:9. God turns our weakness to our strength.  Hebrews 11:4. The lord is our strength.  When we pray,  he answers us and encourages us with his strength. Psalm 118:14, Psalm 138:3. 2. Mount up with wings like eagles This means we will soar.  There would be an uprising.  There is also an increase. We would not be on the same level as we were before. There will be a promotion. Do you look down on people who have no money, who have no clothes or look shabby?  Do you respect people because of fame and money?  Do you look down on the poor because they don't have anything? If you do these,  detest from it. Don't disregard people,  because no one knows tomorrow. A poor person can become rich same as a rich person can become poor. Don't let your respect be because of what people have. Don't look down on people. The people you look down on might be who you would need for your rising tomorrow. Despise not the days of little beginning! No one knows tomorrow! James 2:1-9

It looks like we have forgotten about the ten commandments.  So let me use this as a reminder. Exodus 20.. 1. Thou shall not worship any other gods beside God. 2. Do not make idols of any kind,  or of any thing that is in heaven, on earth, or in water under the earth.  Do not bow to them or serve them 3. Thou shall not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain 4. Remember the Sabbath day,  to keep it holy. 5. Honour thy father and thy mother,  that thy days may be long. 6. Thou shall not kill. 7. Thou shall not commit adultery 8. Thou shall not steal 9. Thou shall not bear false witness. 10. Thou shall not covet your neighbours house,  you shall not convey your neighbor's wife,  nor his male servant or female servant,  or his ox,  nor his donkey nor anything that is your neighbour's.

This life is like a coin.  It has two sides The good and the evil.  The head and the tail. Only God has the total control over this coin. Sometimes the devil might try to flip this coin,  by this only happens when you let the devil in consciously or unconsciously. Mind you the devil won't come to you plain. He is very tricky and cunny. But when someone greater steps in, the devil doesn't have a say. The devil is defeated. When God steps into a situation,  there is divine turnover.  What people meant for evil,  God turns it around for your good. Genesis 50:20 Just put your faith and hope in God. Trust him always.  Give him the wheel of your life.  Let him in.  Let him take total control. Don't let the devil in.  Check your ways. Give your life to Jesus.  He is all that you will ever need.

This song,  "I surrender all" is a song sang by many but only observed by a few. When we say we surrender all to God, it means all.  Not half, or a quarter. No % off. It means all. Even John the Baptist had this understanding.  In John 3:30, John said he must decrease while Jesus must increase. In our daily lives,  let us give Jesus our all. It might be hard,  but it is worth it. Let us go where ever he sends us. Let his word take preeminence in our lives. When you surrender to a person, you do everything that person says.  The same thing applies when you give your life to Jesus.  When you give your life to Jesus, you are no more your own.  Christ owns you.  Surrender your all to Jesus. Do whatever he says. Always give your best to Jesus Surrender totally. When you give Jesus your all, you won't lack anything. It might be hard, but remember it will always be worth it!

What is an Encounter? It is an unexpected experience or meeting with God. When you have an encounter with God, things begin to turn in your favor.  Even your enemies become your friend. A practical example is Jacob in Genesis 32 and 33. Jacob was so scared of meeting his brother Esau. He went to the extent of dividing his properties into two,  in case Esau attacks one half,  the other half would be safe. Jacob still sent presents ahead to Esau to persuade Esau before he gets there. But the night before the meeting, Jacob had an encounter with God in Genesis 32:24-31, and since them his life never remained the same. When you have an encounter with God, something has to change about you.  You can't just remain the same way you were. Esau was so happy when he saw Jacob,  that he ran to him,  hugged him and kissed him. Jacob must have felt like,  what is happening?  But because of his encounter with God at the night,  things began to work in his favor.

The temple of God is you.  The spirit of God also dwells in you. But when you make yourself unclean,  God cannot dwell in you,  because he is holy. Things that can destroy the temple of God includes what you do,  what you eat and drink,  what you wear and what you think. If your actions are evil, stop it!  If what you eat brings disease to your body, watch it! If you are not drinking the right drink,  check it! If what you wear does not glorify God, check it! For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. If you defile the temple of God,  Destruction is sure. Beware of what you do with your body. You could say that your body is yours so you can do anything with it.  Let me ask you one question,  did you create that body? so God owns everything. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17. For ye were bought with a price.  Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:20.

Diligence is a virtue that places us in high places. Some of God's promises for us has the diligence factor attached. But some of us want this blessings without paying the price of diligence. Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently to the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all the nations of the earth. The condition of this blessing is diligence.  The reason why we don't get our blessings is due to is lack of diligence. We have to be diligent in all of our relationship with God so as to get these blessings. The reason why most of our businesses don't grow is because we are not diligent enough. Proverbs 22:29 Seeth thou a man diligent in his business, he shall stand before kings and not mean men Diligence pays a lot! How diligent are you?

Every one has a standard,  an accepted range of things we want and do. But the problem is,  some of us have made people our standard,  forgetting that human beings are unpredictable. They can fall and change at anytime. Instead let Jesus be our standard. Remember,  Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.  He changeth not.  He is also impeccable. So let our lives,  our being and everything we do be focused on Jesus. Let us follow Jesus principles and set our standards according to it. FOCUS ON JESUS! When something is reflected,  it shows back the same exact image.  A boy's image doesn't reflect back as that of a girl. In this world,  we are mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the lord. Do our actions reflect God's glory? What proceeds out of our mouths,  is it a reflection of God's glory?  Are our thoughts a reflection of God's glory? Our daily activities should reflect God's glory.  We are the bible people read. Let all our actions be a reflection of God.  Don't disobey God's commandments.  Don't do what God doesn't like. Let all of your being and your very existence, be a perfect reflection of Christ! 2Corinthians 3:18

Sometimes,  things are so hard that you just wanna break down and cry.  Situations don't look good.  Everything is crashing down.  You just wanna give up. Let me tell you something quick God ain't gonna test you above what you can take in.  He's got you.  Sometimes you have to be tried for that blossom you to come out. Nobody wants the raw material gold.  But when it is tried in fire,  it becomes all that everyone wants. Mind you,  gold has to go through a burning process to become pure gold.  Trust me,  that burning process wasn't sweet,  but it's preparing you for something sweet. Cake has to go into the oven, bread has to go into the oven,  and then the heat heats then up and they rise to what we eat everyday. So no matter what you are going through right now,  it's building you..  The only thing that matters is the perspective from which you look at it! Have the right perspective!!

Study to show your self approved!  2 Tim 2:15. Most people want people's approval when they know nothing. If you want to grow in God's word,  study the word of God. Take extra time out to meditate on it. You want to excel in your music ministry, study about it.  Learn more singing techniques,  read more,  research more,  spend money.  Good things don't come cheap. You want to be promoted,  study as well. Know something others don't. If you are not informed,  you will be deformed.  A man is what he knows.  People respect knowledge. The difference in a man's life from 20 years ago till now is as a result of the books he read,  the friends he kept and the places he went. When you know what you are doing, people would respect you for that. A wise man is mighter than a strong man. A man of knowledge is more powerful than a strong man.  Proverbs 24:5 Through knowledge are rooms filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables. Proverbs 24:4 You

Most times why people don't progress in what they do,  or get to that height they need to be is that most of what they do is high service. When you are working,  obey your boss at all times.  If you don't respect people higher than you,  you might not be able to get that far.  And even if you get that far,  the people under you would do the same.  Law of karma. Do what is right all the time,  not only when you are being watched.  Then your faithfulness would speak for you where it matters. When you fear the lord,  you wouldn't cheat others. Remember people are watching you.  When you do good,  people would want to be like you.  Let your behaviour bring people closer to Christ. When you are faithful,  even though people don't reward you,  God would reward you. Work hard and cheerfully in all you do! Put in that little effort! Be happy!

When it comes to sin,  God has no favorites. If you think you can continue in sin and expect grace to abound,  that is a lie. God detests evil and sin.  No one who does evil and doesn't repent would go unpunished. There is nobody who can get away with evil. Evil always has its consequences.  An evil man is held captive by his own sins. They are ropes that catch and hold him. Proverbs 5:22 Once you fear the lord,  you would hate evil.  Because good and evil can't be together! Those that do evil,  have no future because their light would be sniffed out by the consequences of their evil deeds.  Proverbs 24:20 When you fear the lord, you would run away from evil! Abstain from evil and sin today!

An apparel of tender hearted mercy, kindness,  humility, gentleness and patience. An apparel of love.  Love binds us all together in perfect harmony. Whatever way you can,  show love.  Have a heart of peace. Show peace everywhere you go. Appreciate things and people.  Be thankful. A thankful heart is always happy And you also lift up the heart of a person you are thankful to. Let your tongue always speak the word of Christ.  Let God's word live in you. Don't do anything that God doesn't like.  Use his word to teach people. Be thankful to God by singing. Whatever you say or do, let your actions represent Christ. We are the books people read. Be a representative of Christ. Don't let people see God in a bad way as a result of your actions. Show Jesus everywhere you go Let all these abide in your hearts instead of hatred,  strife and evil thoughts. They pollute the mind!  Have a heart of gold! #colossians 3:12-17

Energy is the power you need to achieve a particular purpose.  It is the strength required for a sustained mental or physical activity. When you focus all your energy on one thing,  you tend to  achieve purpose on it easily.  Because no external force is causing a distraction that could reduce the level of your energy. When you focus all of your energy on making heaven,  then victory is possible. The things of this world do more harm than good.  They come to you as beautiful things, wolves dressed in sheep's clothing. The things the devil brings never come as ugly. But most of us prefer believing in a lie than believing in the truth. The things of the devil quenches our fire and energy.  Because God is a holy God,  he wouldn't mix with unclean things. But when all of your energies is focused on one thing; heaven,  you wouldn't be swayed by the things of the world,  because you know what heaven has in stock for you. Let our energies be focused on forgetting

Are you working in church only to get recognized? Are you working in church so that people can give you comments? Do you live the "holy on Sundays" life? Do you steal thinking nobody saw you? Do you commit adultery thinking your wife is not there,  so you can't get caught? Do you cheat people? Do you bear false witness? But think nobody sees you? Have you forgotten that God neither sleeps nor slumbers? Can a man hide himself in secret places that God won't see him? You can't hide from God. He is everywhere.  Omnipresent! You would be judged by your actions! God sees you!

Do you really love God?  Don't just say it. Show it.  Show it by your daily activities, your behaviour to people and your actions. What you do outweighs what you say. Do you say you are a child of God but your actions are something else?  Watch it! It's written all over your face,  the way you show Jesus. Can you sing?  Can you Dance? Can you draw?  Do you have anything to offer the world?  SHOW IT! Be proud of yourself. Even Jesus was not believed by people until they saw the miracles he did. John 2:23 Nobody is going to believe what you say. People believe what they see.  Seeing is believing. No matter how good you say you are, if you have nothing to show for it, you are as good as nothing. Don't hide what you have.  Don't hide your talents,  just because you are shy.  The world still needs people,  but not shy people.  You might make mistakes,  but you also learn from them.  Don't be limited because of your mistakes.  You will be judged by your acti

When we read the story of how David recovered all,  we most times skip out this part of the story. I Samuel 30:11-15 God told David that he was going to recover all.  But he didn't tell him how... On the way,  David's troops found an Egyptian man in the field and brought him to David. He was given food to eat and water to drink. They gave him more food when they found out that he had not eaten for 3 days and 3 nights. This same man that David helped was a slave of an Amalekite. Remember the Amalekites were the ones who took the women and children captive at Ziklag. This man they helped led them to the amalekites. If David's men had passed the man by,  thinking "who is this?,  or I don't even know him, there is no time to waste, let's recover all, I just lost my wife and children" They might not have been able to reach the amalekites as soon as possible. Sometimes we miss our blessings or take longer time than is needed to get our blessin
